Easter
The women that came to the tomb on that first Easter Sunday came with the same normal expectations that we have when we visit a graveside. The cemetery is where we go to reconnect to our last physical connection that we had with loved ones and friends that are buried there. Can we even imagine showing up at the grave of a loved one and find it open and the casket empty!
We would be much like the women that morning in shock and disbelief. In the challenges of our day to day lives we often look for answers in our own strength or the strength of others. We look where we most expect to find the help we need, often ignoring the purpose that God may have for us.
As we close Holy Week with the resurrection of Jesus may we take the living Christ with us in our day to day lives. On this side of the cross we have the clarity of God’s plan for our salvation through Jesus’ death and resurrection. May we benefit from knowing that the tomb, the cross, the upper room, the temple and the manger are all EMPTY because HE is ALIVE. HE HAS RISEN!
