Satan’s plan has not changed over the thousands of years since his meeting with Eve in the garden. His question to her was not a question about her actions or thoughts but rather to cast doubt on God.
Dig God Really Say
The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?” Genesis 3:3 NLT
He is, according to the scripture a master of deceit with people, and he does that not by attacking us but by shrewdly attacking our connection to God. Satan has not changed this plan over time because it works.
Eve took his bait and tried to confirm God’s flexibility with man which satan was hoping for, so he could take whatever she didn’t have and make it a desire (temptation) that she wanted bad enough to justify in her spirit how to get it.
Works on Us
This same method works on us, and satan only wants our first step to seem easy to us so that he can put us in a place to defend our faith. We find him here approaching Jesus with the same strategy – IF you are who you say you are, then do this little miracle because you are hungry after all …… Satan always comes after us when we are weak and stressed and puts an easy way out of trouble in front of us.
May we be mindful when we are stressed that the devil will provide us an easy way out that will only lead us farther into the wilderness. Remember that there is always an “IF” with the devil to get us to question our relationship with God, but with God, there is always “TRUTH” – no questions.
